“Jesus sent the disciples out to baptize and from that time until today, there is a chain in the transmission of the faith through Baptism. Each of us is a link in that chain. We’re always moving ahead like a river. Through Baptism, we enter the people of God. We transmit our faith to our children, and when they are grown up, they transmit the faith to their children. And that is how God’s grace works. This is most important: We are the people of God who walk and transmit the faith.”
Pope Francis on Baptism, January 13, 2018
Dear Parents,
Congratulations as you celebrate your child's journey into faith. This is a great time for joy and celebration for you, your family, and your parish family here at Saint Paul's. Your decision to have your child baptized shows that you recognize the importance of God in your life and in the life of your child. There is great responsibility in choosing to raise your child in the Catholic faith, and your parish family at Saint Paul's looks forward to walking with you and your child on your journey.
There are a few things that we will need to do to schedule a date for your child's baptism and some information that we will need as well. By contacting our parish office, we can walk you through all of the details and answer any questions that you may have. Our office staff is currently working from home and we ask that you would leave a message for Mary Langan, our parish secretary, so that she can return your call.
In order to meet your needs and stay safe during the pandemic, online options and Zoom sessions will be available for you to build a greater understanding of the sacrament. When it comes to the day of the baptism, we will celebrate it will every safety precaution to keep your little one safe.
Please know of my prayers as you prepare for the sacrament. I look forward to walking the journey with you.
In Christ,
COVID-19 Update
At this time, baptisms will be scheduled on Sundays. Until further notice, only private baptisms will be scheduled, with a limit of 2 baptisms per Sunday so that necessary cleaning may take place between baptisms. Group baptisms will not be scheduled.
A total of 10 people will be permitted in the church for the entire baptism. Everyone in attendance will need to wear a mask and safe social distancing practices will be in place. Masks must be worn for the entire duration of the baptism. Our youngest disciples do not need to wear a mask as per CDC guidelines.
Hand sanitizer will be available upon entering the church. Please sanitize your hands as you enter.
Photographs may be taken during the baptism and masks must remain on for the entire celebration. If you wish to take additional photographs, with relaxed guidelines, you may wish to do so outdoors.
Baptismal Prep is now available online and via zoom. Online preparation may be completed at the convenience of the parent's schedule. Zoom session will be scheduled with every attempt made to accommodate parent's availability.
